OUR VALUES

Be deliberate. Be impactful. Be human.

At MakeMusic, we hold dear to our hearts three simple values: be deliberate, be impactful, and be human. As a Music Educator, you are carrying out these values, and making a lasting impact in your students’ lives as you foster creativity, encourage collaboration, and bring communities together. We believe that music has the power to transform lives and it is our privilege to play a role in your musical journey.

Be deliberate:

You embody this value by carefully planning lessons, curriculum, and teaching approaches. You take the time to thoughtfully select repertoire that suits your students’ skill levels and goals. You consider the sequencing of concepts, techniques, and musical styles to ensure a logical progression of learning. Being deliberate, you also assess students’ individual needs and adjust your teaching method as needed. You understand that each student’s musical journey is unique and requires personalized attention.

Be impactful:

You make a significant impact by fostering a love and appreciation for music in your students. You inspire your students to reach their full musical potential, whether it’s mastering an instrument, improving singing techniques, or composing an original piece. By offering constructive feedback and guidance, you help students build confidence in their abilities. As an impactful music educator, you create an environment where students can express themselves creatively, helping them develop skills that extend beyond the realm of music, such as discipline, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Be human:

You embrace the human aspect of teaching by building genuine connections with your students. You take the time to understand your students’ interests, strengths, and struggles. By doing so, you create a safe and supportive space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves musically. You also share your own musical experiences, stories, and challenges, making the learning process more relatable and inspiring. Being human also involves showing empathy and understanding to the diverse backgrounds and differing learning styles of your students.
