All of us here at SmartMusic, part of MakeMusic Inc, are excited to announce some big changes coming to your app experience. In early August, when you log in to your account, you will be greeted by an improved app navigation and a new name, MakeMusic! The powerful tools that teachers, students, musicians, and creators have been using in SmartMusic now live in MakeMusic. The best part: all feature access and pricing will remain the same!
Why are we making these changes?
Based on your feedback, we created a more intuitive navigation experience with the ultimate goal of providing quick and easy access to the tasks users need most. With the navigation on the left-hand side, you can quickly move throughout the platform. In addition, as we look towards the future, we plan to expand our suite of tools and offerings to current and new audiences. This planned expansion will encompass more than just SmartMusic and will live under the same name as our company, MakeMusic.
What to expect
As you explore the new navigation layout, you will see familiar tools like “Compose,” “Sight Reading Builder,” and “My library.” You will also continue to see “SmartMusic.” Within MakeMusic, users can continue to create, learn, practice, and enjoy music.
SmartMusic
SmartMusic has long been successful in academic settings, bringing communities of musicians and teachers together. SmartMusic will now focus on the tools that do just that within MakeMusic, being a place to interact with others and manage ensembles. Tools that will be under the SmartMusic header include the Gradebook, Assignments, Practice Analytics, Classes, Class Admin, and Class Tools.

Practice
With access to MakeMusic’s largest interactive sheet music library, take advantage of our powerful Practice tool, including real-time feedback and assessment. Whether preparing for a concert or playing a favorite solo, students and performers can play along with their part or the outstanding professionally-recorded accompaniment.

Compose
Create your next masterpiece with Compose, MakeMusic’s built-in music notation tool. Import, edit, create, assign, and share your own music with students, peers, colleagues, or the world. Students can also use Compose to explore their own creativity.

Although the navigation experience and the name has changed, our commitment to our users has not. All access to our features will remain the same through our Teacher, Performer, and Bulk subscriptions along with our prices for all subscription options. In addition, your buying experience will also remain the same as all subscriptions can be purchased through smartmusic.com.
